Hassle free recording
The Philips CDR 775 is a great little performer and at an affordable price... There are five recording modes, adequate for just about everything and they are simplicity itself. All you need to do is to get 2 or 3 re-writable audio cds, read the manual properly and practice. After that youll never make a mistake using normal recordable audio cds. Other reviewers have highlighted minor gripes such as the lack of a volume control for the phones socket. These are only minor gripes however and not enough, in my view, to reduce the rating from 5 stars to 4.

Excellent value for money!
As a long time working DJ (27 years +) I still have a lot of hard to get tracks on vinyl. I purchased my recorder to be able to load some of these on to CDs to save having to carry vinyl & turntables around. The machine is very easy to use and the sound quality when played back at high volumes is very good. I agree that the CD trays are a little flimsy but just need to be treated with a little care. My only gripe of an otherwise excellent product is that when recording an album the machine does not recognise the end of tracks to increment the track number automatically. (It does do this when copying CDs from an external source)

5 Star Performer
I have recently purchased one of these machines and have had no problems whatsoever. It is a good looking piece of kit with a nice display. It has all the functions the average person needs. OK the manual is not the best but spend a few hours playing and youll be competent. May I suggest the previous poor reviews were due to the use of poor quality/inferior CDR/CDRWs and possibly being impatient with the instructions.
